those rays of light were lightning

June 25th 2014 fair lightning

This looked very promising but did not turn out so well. My wife shot it while it was still a ways off. Heavy rain drove us off the roof and it was rather uneventful.

1st lightning of 2014! may 20 2014

1st lightning of the year! I did see 1 or 2 strikes in the winter [ that I missed documenting :( ] in front of approaching 2014 snow storms. Only one or 2 strikes for each storm. At best lightning was regularly about 1 min apart.

IT WENT FOR ABOUT 10 MINS THEN TAPERED OFF TO 20 SEC APART...
HEAVY RAIN- BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!!

Very sorry about the quality of the shots- It was a full downpour and most of the action was happening entirely in the clouds, the lightning bolts were rarely visible. I think this ontop of the heavy rain made many of the shots difficult to see- :(
