This is the storm as it happened in chronological order below-

coming over Manhattan towards Brooklyn

almost overhead

overhead and raining [I'm getting wet but having fun!]

at this point it has gone over me and is heading north east

rain, this is the best part! directly overhead

now it is no loner overhead but continuing northeast over Brooklyn, the heavy rain is getting close

FIRST LIGHTNING OF 2013!!!!!!! AMAZING FOOTAGE!!

And there you have it -
The 1st lightning I shot in 2013 and it's an incredible shot. I was walking to the kitchen and looked out the window and see this BLACK storm cloud just starting to roll in very quickly over Manhattan. I told Naomi to run to the roof. I grabbed my camera and shoes. I basically recorded the entire storm as it rolled in. It was very windy before the rain hit so apologies for the shaky camera. I would rate this day as incredible. I was seeing lighting across the skyline time after time. Strikes were about 30- 40 seconds apart at is best [not all huge]. It felt safe - it was miles away at its best [night shots]. I would compare this with a best day of lightning from last year.
